Recently, I was given a stack of cast-off scratched, or just really bad House records – Yaya… Talk about score!

So here’s my newest work created using one of said records as the support :

I really wanna do a series of these now… Just got to find the time/ motivation between the moving and sorting out the mess which is my life of late.  They’re about all I’m up to creative wise – A bit of bright, slightly warped colour to take me away from it all.

And here’s a bonus :

I really fuckingsuperlove Archer… And I’m not opposed to a bit of fan art every now and again.  Dammit, last season went WAAAAAY too quick for my liking. Now I’m left waiting for the latest Venture Bros for my next fix… Bring on June 2nd!

Makertorium is on at Te Papa today.  My friend Matthew Pettengell kindly asked if i’d put up some of my new perspex swallow flock as a backdrop for his desks

Perspex swallows

These swallows are a new variation on my vinyl swallow flock i’ve had made through Makerspace… Really pleased with how they’ve turned out, i’m thinking on doing up a couple more sets in white and also in red next.

I’ll be adding them up on my Felt Sales shop in the next day or two, to be sold as installation sets, along with smaller individual swallows made into brooches.

If you are interested in an installation piece, or a commission work along these lines –  Maybe involving a different bird, I would love to hear from you! I can be contacted by email at : vincenteknight@gmail.com

These are a couple of quick little sketches I painted up a while back now, to get my handback into painting after the massive break I had from it at the start of the year.

They’re kind of a carry on from my Tanager and orchid pieces I started on last year, but in a more relaxed, sketchy style.

I love how bright these little ones are – A splash of rainbow colour.  They make me really happy to look at… I think I need to do more!

I finally got myself sorted and got some business cards printed up.  Super stoked with how they turned out – Really nice and simple design to show off the images.

I decided to go with the barest of info – My website and a contact email, this way I can use them both in Melbourne and back in New Zealand.  They don’t have a link to my Felt sale shop, but I figure thats fairly easy to find from here.

So great I finally have something to hand out when someone asks me about my work or commission ideas.  Now I just need to remember to keep them on me!

I’m as happy as a kid in a candy store – Today I went and picked up a new print by RONE that I was lucky enough to get my hands on from his latest show Darkest before the dawn, held at White Walls Gallery in San Fran.

Bridget is a 50x70cm, 10 layer screen print from a limited run of 60 – I missed out on getting hold of one of his prints at his last Melbourne show, even with going to the opening and all, so I’m pretty excited to have one this time round.

A friend of mine bought one of my latest orchid paintings the same day I put my name on the waitlist for one of these babies, so it worked out as a really good trade – Love being able to buy new artwork from the proceeds of artwork sold.  Win!!!

Trying out a new layout style with a mashup of native New Zealand plants and birds

Step up – Gouache, ink and resin on Stonehenge 245gsm print paper – Available (Framed) AU$240.00 from Sketch and Tulip, North Melbourne

Love love love how it turned out.  Its led me to a new series of works in this layout style, featuring a mashup of that oh so lovely plant the orchid – With an emphasis on my most beloved : The Slipper.  I’m slowly pulling in other features to the work, so that the series grows ever more lush and bizarre the further along track it gets.

Its the first series of work I’ve been excited about enough to want to publicly show in a while now – And I’ve found myself the perfect little venue at Sketch and Tulip close by to my place in North Melbourne!

Note : This work is currently for sale framed, directly from Sketch and Tulip in North Melbourne.  Please contact Huda Sleiman in regards to the purchase of paintings. Prices are in AU Dollars.

Remember the Paper garden I pasted up in our little brick courtyard last year?       Well it was getting a bit weathered and old – I decided to scrub it off and start fresh.

Enter my new fascination with pitcher plants… I’m determined to hunt me down one of the Nepenthes variety.  I’ve got such a thing for hanging plants at the moment!

I learnt a bit from the orchid cut outs I put up last round – This time I went for brighter, denser colour. Plus I cut right down to the image edge rather than leaving a white border.  They def. jump out at you from the bricks way more.

Random find of coolness for the day :

The Noisy Jelly chemistry lab Created by Raphaël Pluvinage and Marianne Cauvardboth student at Ensci – Les Ateliers institute for design in Paris, will let the user create his own jelly shapes out of water and agar agar powder. After adding different ‘sound’ colours, the mix is then poured into moulds. Ten minutes later, the jelly shape can be un-moulded and placed on the ‘game board’. By touching the shape, different sounds will be activated.

Inspired by my Narwhal jam labels.  I wanted to keep the natural brown look I had with the tape labels I made for my Red onion jam, so painted this cartoon on a natural handmade paper with raw fibre, leaving the narwhals and borders clean.

Picture measures 252 x 370mm – Its up in my Felt shop here.

I have three more sheets of this paper at the same size… Thinking I may have to use them make a series of four in this style.

I spent my Thursday evening last week making these basic papercuts to use under blacklight for my brothers housewarming.  Up until now, I have usually made flocks of birds for when making decorations, but as Duncs already has a collection of prototype birds from my vinyl swallow flock, I thought I’d try something different.

I love what you can do with white A4 paper, a pair of scissors and a uv light tube!

Sorry for the graininess again – Only had iphone with, rather than d’s nice cannon.

But I’m really pleased with how they turned out… I kinda love making papercut decorations *I think my friends should have more parties, so I can make more!!!
